Hi! I’m Esther, the hands and heart behind Alterneedle, where every stitch has purpose.
Originally from Uganda, I studied Fashion Design in Vietnam, developing my technical skills, eye for detail, and love for fabric work. Today, I’m based in the Netherlands, combining my creative training with practical experience to deliver expert garment alterations, household textile adjustments, and bespoke sewing projects.
From hemming trousers to reshaping curtains, from intricate hand stitching to sustainable restyling, I bring precision, creativity, and care to every project. My services are fairly priced so more people can access high-quality alterations without compromise. Sustainability is at the core of what I do: I believe in repairing, reusing, and refining, rather than replacing, whenever possible.
Alongside running Alterneedle as a sole proprietor, I’m also pursuing a Law degree and raising my two preteens as a full-time mom. This balance keeps me focused on delivering excellent work on time, at a fair price, and with a personal touch. As a one-woman business, I apologise in advance if there’s ever a short delay in communication, but I always aim to respond to all queries within 24 hours.
Whether you need a small repair, a major adjustment, or a custom project, my goal is to make sure you feel confident in your clothes and comfortable in your home. With Alterneedle, you’ll find a trusted partner for everything from wardrobe essentials to unique household pieces – all sewn with skill and finished with care.
“Through mindful craftsmanship, I give garments and textiles a second life, honoring their stories and creating something timelessly unique by embracing the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi.”
